Joe
Where's the history of Notts RL gone from the website?
We could do with getting something updated for that. I could update the kits bit if you put it back up??

Still got the pages but I took the link off cos it hadn't been updated for ages and looked a bit naff as a result. Was waiting for Rich's Crusaders' history part 2 and Jon H was going to do something on the Outlaws but never got round to it.
I think Rich should start compiling a book on Notts RL history in time for the 25th anniversary of RL in Notts (2011 if memory serves Rich?)

Jimmy from Moderns is the man to speak to, he's collected just about everything to do with Nottingham RL that's been published in the Evening Post over the years.

Funny you should mention this!
Was clearing out some drawers last week (you can tell its off-season!) and found more Crusaders stuff, photo's and reviews etc.
Enough to certainly fill in the gaps for part 2 of the history!
Jimmy Want also loaned me a couple of scrap books with quite a bit of info in there (quite an interesting read!)
As for dates, I played for Crusaders in 1986 but think that the first season may have been 1985 (I will check with Biffer Lawson and confirm for definate!)

Rich, I saw Jimmy a couple of weeks ago and he mentioned the scrap book. If I can get hold of it I will get it scanned at work. I will then put a few paragraphs together on the history bit. Wouldn't be able to remember a thing otherwise.

I have quite a lot of stuff going back to Trent Poly starting in March 1982 and am hoping to sort out a re-union either later in this year of 2010 to celebrate the 1st year in UCARLA. There was also a team in 1969 in the inaugral UCARLA competition, but it was a combined Nottingham Uni and Poly team. Mansfield Marksman started in 1983 before going on to become Nottingham City in 1989, later on changing name to Nottingham City Outlaws, then Nottingham City Crusaders and back to Nottingham City Outlaws. On the amateur front Nottingham Foresters before becoming Nottingham Crusaders were set up in 1984. If I had been made redundant by the Council I would have taken the research on, but the bas*ards are making me stop on at work. Will get round to it one day

I was a member of the Coaching and Back room Staff of the original "Outlaws", doing coaching work in schools, taking a Team from Manvers Pierrepont up to Leeds to play a couple of games and publicising the Team, securing interviews on both Local radio and TV. I am currnetly looking for photos and Matchday programmes from that period to help with my research towards a book I am putting together. I would also like to get involved with my "Hometown" Club again in some capacity, even though I am based in Leeds these days Any help would be greatly appreciated and I will, probably be attending the game against Bramley (another former Club), on June 4th

Hi Keith, I'm currently the community RL Coach for Notts, attached to the club, and i'm playing on Sat, so it would be great if you could get down. It would be interesting to hear about the work you did back with the original Outlaws especially what schools you got into and how it went. I wonder if any of my current schools had a past in the sport none of us knew about!? Cheers G
